As you can see in the announcement on the top of this page – tomorrow we will host the most exciting DBA event of the year: the AMIS Query on High Availability for Oracle Databases, presented by Carel-Jan Engel and Jeroen Evers, both members of the renowned Oak Table Network. They will present, each from his own angle, on two advanced approaches to achieving H/A: Oracle Data Guard and Oracle Real Application Clusters. We will see an interesting overview and discussion of when and how to apply these radically different approaches. Or could they be complementary as well?

Apart from two distinguished speakers, we will have an audience of 60 or so database specialists that will undoubtedly come up with provocative questions. AMIS lines up our own two Oracle RAC and Database infrastructure specialists Arnoud Roth and Gerwin Hendriksen to help lead and fire on this discussion.

The session will start at 16.30 in the training room of our office in Nieuwegein, and continue until 20.30 hours or so much longer as the discussion runs. You can register for the session and the included dinner at: http://www.amis.nl/activiteiten . Note that this event is – as always – free. Early next week, you will find the hand-outs and a report on this session.
