Hotsos 2013 – From Unstructured to Structured…
0It has been a while that I have been attending Hotsos, although that is how it feels. In 2011 I flew to Hotsos to see, among others presentations from Maria Colgan, but I ended up being sick the whole week while learning on my hotel room to enjoy American TV. In 2012 I skipped Hotsos (10th year anniversary) thinking my schedule was too full with international presentations, but alas, that agenda cleared up expectantly, so in the end I missed out on some big conferences as a presenter and/or attendee.
Hotsos?You don’t know the Hotsos Symposium? The Hotsos Symposium is, in my honest opinion, is one of the most interesting best symposiums/conferences out there, when you goal is learning all about (Oracle) performance. This yearly happening takes place in Irving, Texas, in an Hotel on an isolated location somewhere nearby a highway some miles from Dallas downtown. When I read that Maria Colgan would do the Hotsos Training Day (an extra symposium option), without even seeing the rest of the symposium agenda, I knew I had to attend. Hotsos Revisited 2013
0Van 3 tot en met 7 maart vindt in Irving, Texas, het internationale Oracle performance Hotsos Symposium plaats. Dit jaar belooft het symposium een garantstelling voor inhoudelijk hoogstaande presentaties en discussies, want naast presentaties van Tom Kyte, Cary Millsap, Maria Colgan en Steven Feuerstein over performance, worden er ook onderwerpen behandeld zoals Big Data, noSQL, XML, Statistische toepassingen met betrekking tot performance, beheer in de (Oracle) Cloud, Exadata en Oracle 12c onderwerpen.
Het event “Hotsos Revisited 2013″ gaat in de herhaling op 2 april met de presentaties van de Nederlandse sprekers… (more…)

It’s Monday night and a select company of DBAs and Database developers have gathered at AMIS HQ in Nieuwegein for the ‘Looking Back at Hotsos 2009′ session. It is one of those sessions that has a lot of energy, laughter and a wealth of serious content. Four very experienced speakers relate their best experiences and most important learning points from the Hotsos conference. And the audience is allowed to participate. Speakers are Marco Gralike, Toon Koppelaars, Gerwin Hendriksen and Jeroen Evers.
The evening brings us – apart from a quite good dinner – interesting topics such as Bloom Filters, Hierarchical Profiling,..
