After a fairly long wait – and experimenting with Beta drops since May 2006 – we have just received word that the JHeadstart 10.1.3 Production Release is available. That is good news – as we have worked with beta versions on several projects and as the schedule of our projects progresses, availability of production level software was increasingly more appreciated. The official announcement about this production release can be found on the JHeadstart Blog.
The announcement states: "Customers who hold a supplement option license can download jhs1013-install.zip from the Consulting Supplement Option portal. A limited trial version will be available for evaluation purposes on OTN later. Fact Sheet, FAQ, online demos, and the new updated JHeadstart 10.1.3 Developer’s Guide (with extra chapters compared to the draft version) can be found in the JHeadstart Product Center. "
With JHeadstart 10.1.3, it is very much easier to get going with ADF Faces and the ADF Binding Framework than without it. Even if you do not generate anything with JHeadstart, it contains a wealth of best practices taht anyone doing ADF Development can benefit from. However, the Generation capabilities will typically enhance productivity by 50 to 100% and more for applications with not too specific UI requirements. Besides, JHeadstart enables developers to become productive without having to go (immediately) through a very steep learning curve.
On the 14th September, we will organize the JHeadstart 10.1.3 Launch Event where Steven Davelaar from the JHeadstart Team will present and demonstrate and where one of our AMIS project teams will relate on a JHeadstart 10.1.3/ADF Faces project currently under way. There is also a hands-on workshop with plenty of opportunity to play with JHeadstart 10.1.3 for yourself. Lucas, I noticed too that I put the expression of “after several weeks of hard work” in the wrong context. That’s probably because it was by then after quite late at night. I changed it into “After several weeks of hard work by the JHeadstart Team to put in the finishing touches”, that’s what I really meant. Of course there have been months of work before that!
