AMIS Query: An Evening with Oracle ACE Director Doug Burns…

On the 18th of June I am very happy to have arranged an internal mini masterclass for my DBA colleagues and some AMIS customer DBA peers. The evening before on the Thursday the 17th of June (btw. no important World Cup soccer games going on during this Thursday evening) Doug agreed to present his “How I learned to Love Pictures – Oracle 10g/11g Performance Analysis Using OEM” presentation, he held, among others, during the Oracle Open World 2009 Unconference sessions and this years Hotsos 2010 Symposium.

If all goes well …

…You will enjoy during this evening a really great presentation on how much information you can get out of those Oracle Enterprise Manager performance diagnostic and tuning pages.

AMIS Query: A (hacking :) event with Oracle ACE Director Pete Finnigan

Zoals al aangekondigd in een eerdere blogpost heeft AMIS in samenwerking met Miracle Benelux, Masterclass trainingen, de mogelijkheid om vlak voor de twee daagse Masterclass in Utrecht van Oracle ACE Director en Oracle Security expert Pete Finnigan uit Engeland, een AMIS Query te organiseren. Beveiliging van je data en de focus hierop is vaak een ondergeschoven kindje. Iedereen is zich er waarschijnlijk wel van bewust dat data verlies via beveiligingslekken door bijvoorbeeld architectuur, programmatuur of onderliggende ondersteunende software, een gevoelig punt is in de organisatie. Het security gedachtengoed heeft echter ook impact op design en performance.

Een stukje van de sluier, van het beveiligings gedachtengoed, zal Pete Finnigan met ons delen tijdens de 25e Mei.

Hierbij de agenda voor de avond:

  • Vanaf 17:30/18:00 uur is iedereen welkom voor het diner.
  • Vanaf 19:00 uur zal Pete Finnigan, ingaan tijdens zijn presentatie en demo’s  “Oracle Database Security – (The True State?)“:
      • Focus op database security werk
      • Enkele realistische “hacking” demo’s / scenario’s
      • Discussie stuk t.a.v. de getoonde hacking demo’s
      • De correcte manier om data te beveiligen

Advert: Oracle XMLDB Masterclass in Germany

Here a small advert for one of my events scheduled for this year. On the 24th of Februari I will be giving a Masterclass regarding Oracle XMLDB in Germany. To be precise in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The following will be addressed, but might you attend, then drop me a line (marco dot gralike at amis dot nl) regarding your specific topics and I will see if I can address it within the bounderies of the course setup):

  • Provide a holistic view of Oracle’s XML Database features
  • Provide an in-depth view on how XML should be handled in general and in the Oracle XML database
  • Provide realistic solutions, architectures, to make an XML environment work
  • Show how to avoid problems while working in an XML environment
  • Help to gain the optimum in performance and functionality from your XML database environment

The course is helpful for people who want to know more about Oracle XML DB and have some experience working with it, architects, dba or developers alike. I will see how good my German is during the day and if I feel very brave enough, switch to German during the course.

ADF Masterclass Seminar – 25th March, Norway – Flying with ADF

On Wednesday 25th March, I will present an ADF Masterclass seminar for Oracle University in the vicinity of Oslo (Norway). This masterclass will discuss many valuable lessons we have learned on our ADF projects over the years. Some of the special topics include

 

  1. Web 2.0 & AJAX  – all the ways an ADF application can achieve background client/server communication and partial page refresh
  2. how to implement typical SaaS features in ADF applications – customization & personalization including custom prompts, user extended fields, user preferences
  3. Advanced Data Search & Manipulation functionality
  4. Navigation Short Cuts: bookmarks, recent navigation history, direct record links, actionable emails
  5. Optimal Database integration through ADF Business Components – leveraging SQL and PL/SQL optimally from ADF 

 

Of course the masterclass includes many demonstrations, for which the source code will be made available.
