ADF 11g : Drag’n Drop and Contextual Events
0While going through my list of requirements for our AMIS re-usable ADF taskflow library, I ran into the following requirement: publish a contextual event on a Drag and Drop action. If you know contextual events, you immediately notice that there is no way to publish a contextual event from a Drag and Drop action. There are two types of events: ADF Binding Type events or JSF Component Type Events such as actionEvents, valueChangeEvents or clickEvents (also called eventBindings). However none of those is directly related to Drag and Drop. With some knowledge of the ADF Framework you will be able to create contextual events anyway. This post describes how to publish contextual events when a Drag and Drop action occurs. (more…)
ADF 11g : Change a Viewobjects’ Query on the Fly
1One of the requirements at my current project is to have one ADF table display data from different database tables. That is, depending on criteria entered by the user, the query behind the view object needs to change. All in all 12 different database tables are involved in this story. This requirement is based on functionally in the original (oracle forms) application. This forms application used the set_block_property built-in:
set_block_property('<blockName>, query_data_source_name, <datasource>);I was able to reproduce this behavior in an ADF application. In this post I explain how I did this (more…)
ADF 11g : SelectOneRadio in Table Layout
0Today at one of my customers I was asked the question if you can use a SelectOneRadio component in table layout. I know that the first thing they should have done is try Google to find a solution. As a matter of fact they did and found this blogpost by Frank Nimphius. This however is based on ADF 10g. The part where Frank converts the InputText to a selectOneRadio isn’t available in ADF 11g anymore. It can be achieved in ADF 11g very simple as well (more…)
Book Review: Quick Start Guide to Oracle Fusion Development
0A couple of weeks ago yet another ADF book was released. This time it was Grant Ronald’s turn. He managed to write a “Quick Start Guide to Oracle Fusion Development”. I was somewhat worried because it is seemingly impossible to write a Quick Start Guide to Fusion Development. However after reading the book I was very surprised of what the book has to offer to people starting with fusion development. In this post I share my findings with you (more…)
ADF 11g : Import From Excel Into an ADF Table
12ADF 11g provides an “export to excel” feature that allows you to take data from an ADF table into an excel sheet. But what about the other way around. Sometimes you need to work with excel sheets or comma separated values, and load the content of such a file into a database table. You could use the external table feature of the Oracle Database for that, or you just use any tool to load the csv contents into a database table. The use case I have is that the data in the csv needs to be validated and changed before it is committed into the database. In this post I show you how to load the csv contents into an ADF table component so you can edit the data before committing (more…)
JHeadstart 11g: Tree-Form with drag and drop functionallity
0A little over two years ago I wrote a post on drag and drop in an adf tree component. That post was based on ADF only. In the following post I show that you can have JHeadstart generate a tree for you that supports drag and drop.
Not out of the box, but with use of custom templates, and some ADF knowledge. (more…)
