ADF Mobile : Your First Navigation and Device Interaction
0Now ADF Mobile is generally availble, it is now time to create your first ADF Mobile application. In this post I will show you how to create a simple application that contains of two pages with navigation. A bonus for this post is that you will see how to get a picture from the filesystem (or by using the device camera) from within your ADF mobile application (more…)
ADF Mobile is now Generally Available
0After extensive beta testing oracle announced today that ADF Mobile is now generally available and can be used to build multi platform on device apps. I finally am allowed to share my knowledge in blogposts and other kinds of publications. Using JDeveloper and the ADF Mobile extension, it is very easy to create apps for both the iOS and Android platform. If you only want to create apps for Android, you don’t need a mac, however if you want to create apps voor iOS you really do need a mac to compile the ADF mobile app for iOS.
ADF Mobile provides a natural extension of enterprise/internet applications to mobile clients by providing tools, services, and infrastructure to protect against technology shifts. An application built with ADF Mobile framework installs on a smart device, renders user interface via HTML5, and has access to device services. This means the programming model is primarily web-based, which offers consistency with other enterprise applications as well as easier migration to new platforms. But the application has access to device services, enabling a richer experience for users than a browser alone can offer.

JavaOne 2012: The Big Stories
4The show is over, the people are gone and the cleaning can start.
What do we take home from JavaOne 2012?That depends on who you ask. Some people primarily will have taken goodies from the exhibition floors with them while other may have focused on less tangible goods and gone for inspiration and vision. After the heyday (2006/2007), some waning years and the robust recovery (2011) after an initially tentative turn around (2010) this year seems to have been one of consolidation and careful further evolution. Some choices have been made – not all of them popular but most apparently sensible and reliable because backed by commercial sense.
OOW 2012 – The Big Stories
0The show is over, the visitors are on their way home. The process of digesting the announcements, roadmaps and rumors – confirmed or not – can proceed in full swing. What has become of last year’s plans, what are this year’s plans (for next year and beyond) and what has materialized in terms of Oracle’s product portfolio. For everyone, the answers to these questions and the conclusions will be somewhat different – depending on focus, expectations and requirements. However, some conclusions will be shared by most who attended Oracle Open World 2012.
Without a doubt, some of the important themes were and will be: cloud – and at respectable distance – the next generation of database technology (12c) and of engineered systems (Exa… X3-v2), of mobile availability of both standard applications (Fusion Applications and other Oracle Applications products) and custom Portals and applications (through ADF Mobile on iOS and Android)
Facts and OpinionsThe Facts may seem the easy part – since these are more or less objective – but as soon as interpretation and clarification enter the fray , the absoluteness of the facts is not assured. For example around availability: is the Oracle Cloud More >
OOW 2012: Questions to get answered during this conference
0The show of the year is around the corner: on Sunday it will all start again, the Oracle Open World conference. Tens of thousands of developers, architects, administrators, project managers, decision makers and others involved with Oracle products one way or another are gathering in and around San Francisco. AMIS will attend with an 8 person team. We will present, network, publish and investigate. As much as we bring our knowledge and experience to the conference, we also want to find out many things. A quick list of some of the questions that are on the top of my head to get answered during thus year’s conference:
CloudAfter last year’s announcements, we have not really seen any concrete cloud instances from Oracle. I hope to learn during this conference where exactly we stand and are headed with the Oracle Cloud – both the Application and the Platform Services. My focus will be on the latter in particular: what is the functionality and non-functionality offered by the various services – from Database Service to Web Services (PHP, Ruby and Python support) and Oracle Cloud Developer Services Hudson (for continuous integration, Git and GitHub for source control, wiki and tasks for More >
