ODTUG Sneak Preview: 9 presentaties binnenkort al te horen in Nieuwegein!
Op dinsdag 20 mei 2008, bijna een maand voordat in New Orleans de ODTUG 2008 van start gaat, heb je de mogelijkheid om alvast te horen wat deze negen mensen daar gaan presenteren. In drie rondes kan steeds een keuze worden gemaakt uit drie presentaties over een aantal uiteenlopende onderwerpen. En het goede nieuws is: Het is nog mogelijk om gratis deel te nemen aan deze unieke ODTUG Sneak Preview (aanmeldingsformulier)!!!
Op basis van de voorkeuren die zijn opgegeven bij de aanmeldingen zijn de drie rondes met elk drie presentaties als volgt ingedeeld:

ODTUG 2008 – Sneak Preview van de Nederlandse inzendingen
Van zondag 15 juni 2008 tot en met donderdag 19 juni 2008 vindt in New Orleans dé conferentie voor Oracle ontwikkelaars plaats: ODTUG Kaleidoscope 2008. Dit jaar is 10% van de sprekers afkomstig uit Nederland dus waarom niet met deze sprekers (en Dimitri Gielis uit Belgie) een Sneak Preview organiseren in Nederland? Dit geeft de sprekers de kans op een generale repetitie voor een kritisch publiek en alle aanwezigen een kans drie top-sessies bij te wonen zonder daar voor naar The Big Easy af te reizen.
Op dinsdag 20 mei 2008 van 16:30 tot 21:00 organiseert AMIS de ODTUG Sneak Preview 2008 met de volgende sprekers en onderwerpen:
Donderdag 20 maart 2008: Kennissessie over bedrijfsregels
Op donderdag 20 maart 2008 vindt er een kennissessie plaats die in het teken staat van bedrijfsregels. Gastspreker tijdens dit KC is Toon Koppelaars.
Toon Koppelaars maakt er geen geheim van dat hij een fervent aanhanger is van de dikke database, een database waarin naast de gegevens ook alle data-georienteerde bedrijfsregels worden geïmplementeerd. Vanuit die optiek heeft Toon Koppelaars het product Rulegen ontwikkeld om data-georrïenteerde bedrijfsregels op een gestructureerde manier op te slaan in de database.

JDeveloper 11g preview
The (Oracle) Java community is currently buzzing because the first JDeveloper 11g preview is available for download at the OTN JDeveloper 11g page. I’ll give you a short introduction on my first experiences. Installation is, as always, a breeze. Download and unzip. I started JDeveloper, and although it warns me that it is not certified for Java 6, it seems to work like a charm. When you start JDeveloper, the first thing to pop-up is the update manager, with updates for JUnit and for the SQL Developer Migration Workbench (whatever that is for?). The user interface has changed and is a bit slicker (with the new default theme: Fusion Blue (what’s in a name)) but looks very familiar. But when you start working you’ll notice lot’s of small changes, e.g. the application navigator only shows the current application, which you can select with a dropdown (figure 1) or the style that wizard use (figure 2) or rounded input boxes, etc.
