I do not see why that statement would mean that FX is dead. FX is targeted at Desktop (replacing Swing) and at Embedded. Desktop development may be a niche, but it is a real and important one. The market for embedded - from screens in cars to display devices on consumer electronics, household appliances, industrial machinery and many more - is substantial.

I am not sure whether an official statement regarding FX on SmartPhones was made, but the intention of Oracle with FX was pretty clear anyhow.

You wrote "JavaFX is no longer intended for use on SmartPhones. The iPhone, Android and Windows Mobile phones are provided by the respective platforms – there is no room there for JavaFX. JavaFX is targeted at the desktop – to replace Swing – and at smaller devices that run embedded Java"

Is it an official statement of Oracle to not support mobile platforms like iOS, Android and Windows 8 with JavaFX??? That would be equal with "JavaFX is dead".

Hi Lucas,
I thought that JRockit and Hotspot was already merged in Java SE 7. Good to know that they are not :-)
Weblogic 10.3.6 and 12c can run on Java SE 7. If you don't have any developers jumping up and down to get Java SE 7 are there any good reasons to use Java SE 7 over JRockit 6 under Weblogic?
