Hi Lucas,
I tried similar scenario of Master Detail BPEL process but the master process is not waiting for the signal from detail process and it continuing execution after sending the signal to detail process. And the message seen in Audit trail(Master Process) is,"No detail instances exist.Continuing execution".
Am i missing anything in this implementation.
Thanks,
Dhana

Lucas,

I actually did the same process as mentioned here, but in the detail BPEL process it is throwing up error like

"><detail>java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.oracle.bpel.client.CoordinationId.<init>(CoordinationId.java:24)
at com.collaxa.cube.engine.ext.bpel.common.wmp.BPELxReceiveSignalWMP.__executeStatements(BPELxReceiveSignalWMP.java:119)

I have just pasted first two lines the error code which is almost a page length

Thanks

Hi Emiel,

I am not sure how a single process instance can have two masters. Well, if there are multiple correlated calls that could be the case I suppose. But even if we could get that to work, the alternative solution becomes more complex than the approach it is the light weight alternative for. So although your thinking is creative, I do not believe it is the solution I was looking for.

Thanks and kind regards,

Lucas

Lucas,

Can a client (or detail) process communicate with two Masters? (using Signal and ReceiveSignal). When this is possible, you can implement the second scenario by adding two processes in the middle as a kind of proxies or brokers. They just pass the messages to the real client process. A little bit similar of using an intersection table to handle n to n relationships between two tables.
