Ino's comment doesn't really measure up - is he saying the complexity of an application is solely measure by the number of database tables (or application modules)?
I think we all the software complexity is a measure of more parts than that. Given that last Java RAD race that was run ADF won would back up the fact that Oracle got the development tools spot on.

Ino: that is an interesting comment. I think Oracle has been slightly overstating the numbers of developers to increase confidence in the products they are about to release (as in : they have been tried and tested for the last 12 months by the largest development effort around the world) but when you put it like this it seems to backfire somewhat. I think that when you see the actual applications and all the functionality they contain, you will find that just looking at the number of tables or modules for that matter does not really do justice to the richness of the functionality the applications provide. When you have taken a closer look at what Fusion Apps really is about, I would like to year your next take on those numbers and the technology stack as a whole.

Gareth: ok, I probably have missed on some of those sessions. However, after Larry's keynote in 2007 (or was it 2006), I would have expected much more noise and visibility on the Fusion Apps side in 2008 (or 2007?). Good to know that the momentum has been building for somewhat longer.

Chris: Forms, Reports and Discoverer 11g are certainly part of Fusion Middleware 11g - about to be released in about one week's time. These products are used to an ever decreasing extent in Oracle E Business Suite. They have not been used at all in Fusion Applications.

Hi Lucas,

Nice post! Keep up the info on Fusion Apps - hoping someone took a video of the demo!

PS. Just wanted to say there was a Fusion Applications presentation and demo at OpenWorld 2008 so it hasn't been all hush hush, the target date for first release was (delayed) to 2010 if I remember correctly. Also there have been other events on Fusion I believe (check Orclville).

Regards,
Gareth

Wow, for me this shows how low JDeveloper productivity actually is. 3000 Developers, 5440 tables and 2500 modules. That comes to a bit over one table and less than one module per developer!
