You want to build it with ADF, but you do not want it to look like ADF. What do you do? (come to S290737 during OOW2007)

Well, at the very least come to my presentation Building Real Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF) Applications: A Learning Experience at OOW next week:  S290737, Thursday 4.00pm (Moscone South 300). One of the things I will tell you is how we created this carefully, tailor-designed and attractive User Interface that you see here:

was created from its functional equivalent, this fairly dull ADF Faces BLAF style application:....

Not surprisingly it takes a bit of ADF Faces Skinning, some CSS work, a whisker of JavaScript and one or two custom JSF Components. But you get the end users jumping up and down with excitement. I have never made them more happy than with an application that does the same but looks so much better! And it is not all that difficult to do.

In this talk, I will tell you about three real life projects and the challenges we encountered – and overcame. It is a great chance to end the conference on a high note, so I hope you will be there.

  1. It would be great to post the presentations after OOW. It’s quite impressive to see the layout changing to a more ’21th century’-layout like Jan mentioned :)
    Keep up the good work!

  2. Pedro,
Great slides! Thanks for sharing them. You certainly have been working hard (as well as been successful) with ADF and JHeadstart!
    best regards, Lucas

  3. Lucas,
Is it possible to get a transcript of your presentation (after OOW of course)? or may be you can publish it here?

I believe many people would be VERY interested.

    Thank you,

    VO

  4. Good job. We have worked hard trying to customize ADF components. We are developing projects with JDeveloper an JHeadStart 10.1.3. And we use to customize velocity templates just to fit customers requirements and look and feel especifications to the application developed. Here there is an example of what we do with ADF and JHeadStart http://www.bbr.cat/presentaciones/PDF/Noticias_EventosBbr/cuore_bbr.pdf . Moreover you can find two url with demos (viewlwts) into de Demo slide.

    I hope you enjoy it.
