Thanks for your comment. I was expecting a comment like this, because this is something that has been boggling my mind as well. Apparently, Oracle is able to identify that the LV that it is writing to is mirrored. It seems rather logical to me that Oracle needs some specific information about the LV in order to write to it. One of the things that Oracle needs is LV configuration. This probably is because Oracle is the owner of the device. From the definition of the LV, Oracle derives that there are multiple copies of the data (mirror), and will act accordingly.
Personally I would like to know in more detail how Oracle does this, but it is hard to find the correct people within Oracle that know all about the details of this feature.
