Hi, guys! I am running gtk-gnutella 0.91.1 on Red Hat 8.0 and it is slower than slow. When I click button I might get a reaction thirty-seconds later. There are intermittent moments when it is responsive this is not the case.
Someone metioned an initial hashing function of shared files, but ten minutes after starting the program doesn't change anything. Thanx for any help.

Another funny one:
'An archived blog post from September of 2004 reveals Fleury's candid opinion of Red Hat. You will, however, struggle to find Fleury's writings as Red Hat and JBoss have tried to erase the commonts from the internet's memory. Luckily, we're here to help with a cached image'
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/04/10/fleury_redhat_critic/

Btw I think all of this shows one thing: OSS is still fashionable, but also a way
to become filthy rich!

IMHO Oracle could have never incorporated JBoss like RedHat kan. The funny thing with most JBoss developers (and most JBoss users) is that they are almost religious about their open-source-body. This just doesn't match with "big bad multinationals", like Oracle.

Personally I couldn't care less wether Oracle, RedHat or company X buys some OSS company, as long as it is about the technology. The thing that does worry me is the longterm effect this can have on OSS. Money can become a huge factor in decisions about what development path to choose. Then OSS is no longer about the art of software enginering, which IMHO is the true strength at present time.
