Lucas - only just found your postings from the main Technet site and they're very revealing and extremely interesting.
Once thing i would say about your view on DataGuard and GUI's is that yes a GUI may aid productivity, but i know when learnig about how to configure DataGuard in various scenarios and configrations, using VI to edit init.ora files, manually editing files and controlling the databases using the command-line/SQL prompt, whilst reading the (voluminous) documentation gave me far more insight and knowledge than i [suspect] would have otherwise gained using the GUI.
I now know (and understand)what parameters to change, in what files they reside and how to change the networking files in unison.
Maybe it's just my need own personal need to know what's going on, but certainly when network failures etc have occured i've been alot more confident in tackling any problems than i might otherwise have been.
Anyway - just mu opinion!
